And we’re back with Umeeverse Newsletter #2! We’ve had a busy couple of weeks, so make sure to catch up below with what’s been going on and what is to come!

Umeevengers Testnet

We’ve announced Phase 1 of our incentivized testnet — Umeevengers: Rise of the Umeevengers! We’re so excited to launch this initiative as this will lay the groundwork for Umee’s ultimate goal: mainnet. Although we’re a few months away from mainnet, Phase 1 of Umeevengers and the subsequent phases to come will allow us to build the Umee protocol the way we intended: by the community, for the community. That said, here are some quick hits on what you need to know about Phase 1:

  • Validator Applications for Rise of the Umeevengers ends today at 4:00 pm UTC
  • Selected Validators will be announced on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021
  • Rise of the Umeevengers will begin on Monday, October 11th, 2021
  • Rise of the Umeevengers will end on Monday, November 12th, 2021
  • There is a limit of 200 total Validators able to compete in Rise of the Umeevengers in each weekly phase.
  • There will be an active Validator Waitlist in the case validators in the competition are kicked for misbehavior, low performance, or inactivity.
  • The incentivized testnet is comprised of three objectives: never become jailed/slashed, uptime greater than 90%, most blocks processed
  • A total prize pool of 4 million UMEE tokens will be distributed based on participants’ accomplishments and contributions.
  • For more details about Rise of the Umeevengers, read here

Betanet

  • The current Umee betanet will continue to stay active for our community while Rise of the Umeevengers is live for our community to test out and practice running a validator.
  • That said, we would like to say thank you to our community who are continuing to contribute to the betanet. And if you are not selected for Umeevengers, you still have a chance as our Validator Waitlist will exist.

Other Incentive Programs

  • We will announce a general community-focused incentive program in the near future. Be on the lookout for updates!

Mainnet Conference

  • Last week, September 20–22, the Umee team had the opportunity to attend the Mainnet 2021 conference! It was great to see the crypto community in person and see everything coming through the pipeline.
  • We were able to meet with validators, i.e. CosmostationFigmentStakefishBlockdaemon, and many more on how they can help Umee as we grow.
  • We were also able to meet with other projects in the Cosmos ecosystem to discuss how to develop future opportunities in the space. Be on the lookout for that!

Umee User Interface

  • The Umee UI is sprinting to the finish! Expect to see the first iteration of our UI within 3–4 weeks. As we have all technical testnets and programs going on right now, we can’t wait to grant the opportunity for non-technical community members to play with the Umee platform.

Cosmos Network AMA

  • With so much happening in the Umeeverse, we thought it’d be great to partner with the Cosmos Ecosystem Chat Telegram Channel to do an AMA!
  • The AMA will feature Brent Xu, Founder/CEO of Umee, answering your pressing questions about anything Umee related. The event will take place on October 4th, 2021 at 1:30 pm UTC (9:30 am EST) on the Cosmos Ecosystem Chat.
  • If you have any questions you would like to ask Brent, send them to our Telegram group in the meantime!

Reddit

  • We’ve just launched the Umee subreddit within the last week!
  • Read here as to why we think it’s essential for community growth and make sure you get to posting over there!

The Trading Show

  • Brent Xu, our CEO/Founder will be attending The Trading Show — Chicago 2021 on October 6th to discuss interoperability protocols and how they will impact the multichain world. It’s sure to be an insightful discussion!

Cosmosverse Conference

  • Brent Xu will also be attending the Cosmoverse Conference in Lisbon, Portugal on November 5th as a keynote speaker!
